KVT-Fastening offers the R4-EM 'Electronic Rotary' access solution by Southco in an outdoor as well as a lightweight version. Both models in the electronic access solutions (EAS) product range guarantee reliable access control by using electromechanically-operated locking elements. The outdoor version of the R4-EM is characterised particularly by its resistance to moisture and dust. This is achieved by a corrosion-resistant housing of zinc / nickel-plated steel or stainless steel and complete sealing of the inner actuating elements. The lightweight version is manufactured of plastic composite material and thus saves up to 65 % in weight, compared with the standard version. An optional internal micro-switch can also provide an output signal for remote monitoring of the locking status and the control of external systems. Due to their low current consumption, the R4-EM access solutions can be operated by any standard control unit having a 12-24 V DC connection. Furthermore, an integral mechanical emergency opening permits the lock to be unlocked manually in the event of a power outage.

The EAS models by Southco are suitable for different applications, according to their design: in the automotive industry, in railway vehicles, construction vehicles and machinery, switchgear cabinets, sheet metal casings, furnishings or computer technology, agricultural machinery and shipbuilding. Here they can secure doors, stowage compartments, showcases, self-service vending machines and storage lockers among other things. Depending on the model, micro-switches are available as an optional extra, and can deliver reliable information on the actual locking status. The 'auto relock' and the 'delayed relock' versions also make it possible to specify secure relocking or defined holding open of a door for a certain period.
